Public health preparedness encompasses both emergency and disaster preparedness and response. This includes ensuring that public health systems are prepared for all types of hazards, such as wildfires, earthquakes, hurricanes, floods, power outages,  winter storms, bioterrorist attacks, pandemics, and other situations. Responsibilities may include managing emergency medical  response systems, providing emergency management within government and healthcare settings, and conducting research on  preparedness.
